Atari launches nostalgic smartwatch with classic games
Atari has launched a new smartwatch focused on fun rather than advanced features. The watch lets users customize the interface with retro Atari 2600 artwork and sounds. It offers the ability to play classic games like Centipede, Pong, Super Breakout, and Missile Command. Users can control these games using a touchscreen or the crown dial. The Atari 2600 My Play Watch is priced at $79.99 and targets nostalgic gamers looking for a unique fitness tracker. It is available for preorder now and is expected to ship by June 10, 2025. This new watch is based on the Space Invaders My Play Watch, which was released in September 2024. While it has fitness tracking features, such as step and heart rate monitoring, the Atari watch lacks Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. This means it won't send smartphone notifications or allow users to download apps or new games. The new watch has several upgrades, including a slightly larger touchscreen and a sturdier design. It comes with three swappable bands featuring retro designs, but these will only be available for a limited time.
