Athletics' first home game in West Sacramento March 31
The Athletics are preparing for their first-ever home game in West Sacramento on March 31. This event marks a significant celebration for the team and its fans. The A's will play at Sutter Health Park while their new arena is being built in Las Vegas. Fans in the Sacramento area will enjoy games from both the A's and the Sacramento River Cats, a Triple-A team affiliated with the San Francisco Giants. One week before opening day, the A's shared details about the celebration. Fans can expect live music, giveaways, and a military flyover. The home opener features the Chicago Cubs, and gates will open at 5:05 p.m. Every fan attending the game will receive a green-and-white trucker hat and a Rickey Henderson rally towel. The players and coaches will wear Henderson’s iconic No. 24 jersey. Henderson's daughters will throw the first pitches, and artist David Garibaldi will create a mural of Henderson during the game. This opening day will include a military flyover from Beale Air Force Base. Both teams will be introduced on the field, and Shane Q, a local singer, will perform the national anthem. Some season ticket holders will also display a large American flag on the field. In addition to the festivities, Sutter Health Park has undergone upgrades to meet Major League Baseball standards. Improvements include better scoreboards, lighting, and a new player training center. Lawn seats will be available for $25 at every home game. Fans can check ticket information through the team's website.
