Auckland woman jailed for torturing young boy
Selica Romana Wright, a 34-year-old woman from West Auckland, has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison. She was found guilty of horrific abuse against a young boy over a period of 10 months. The abuse included stabbing the boy multiple times, pouring boiling water on him, and forcing him to eat faeces. The victim also suffered severe injuries, including a broken spine. Judge Kirsten Lummis called the acts exceptionally cruel and planned. In court, Wright presented a letter of apology. However, prosecutors argued that she showed no real remorse. They pointed to letters from her jail cell in which she stated she would repeat her actions without hesitation. This case has shocked the community due to the extreme nature of the violence.
