Austin Herro entering transfer portal after disappointing season
Austin Herro, who is the younger brother of NBA star Tyler Herro, has decided to enter the transfer portal. Austin played for the South Carolina Gamecocks this past season, which ended poorly as the team finished last in the SEC. As a sophomore guard, Austin did not have many opportunities to play. He was part of the scout team and participated in only ten games, scoring two points in a total of 14 minutes. After a challenging season, changes are happening on the Gamecocks' roster. Tyler Herro, Austin's brother, had a standout career after one year at Kentucky. He was drafted 13th overall in 2019 and has achieved significant success in the NBA, including being named an All-Star in 2025. Austin joined South Carolina as a walk-on but earned a scholarship before the 2024-25 season. In high school, he was a strong player, averaging nearly 15 points per game. As he looks for new opportunities, he may consider schools closer to home, like Iowa, Marquette, or Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he could have a bigger role.
