Austria seeks to deport climate activist "Klima Shakira."

Austria is trying to deport a well-known German climate activist called "Klima Shakira." Her real name is Anja Windl, and she is 28 years old. The Austrian government is unhappy with her protests, which include blocking roads by gluing herself to them. They claim her actions threaten public order. Ms. Windl spoke to a German newspaper and explained that the Austrian immigration authorities believe her protests cause damage and disruption. She has protested against the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) forming a coalition with the far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). Her protests have angered many commuters. If she is deported, Ms. Windl plans to appeal the decision in court. She noted that although she has the privilege to appeal, many others seeking protection at Europe’s borders do not. A government spokesman stated that deportations are allowed for EU citizens if their actions pose a significant risk to public safety. Ms. Windl is part of the German eco-activist group Last Generation, which advocates for urgent climate action.
