Austrian company CycloTech develops practical flying cars

CycloTech, an aviation company from Austria, is making strides towards the dream of flying cars with its new model, the BlackBird. This electric vehicle is designed for vertical take-off and landing, featuring a unique propulsion system called CycloRotor technology. The BlackBird is different from other electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. It has six cyclorotors that allow it to maneuver in various ways, including moving sideways, stopping mid-air, and even parallel parking. This makes the vehicle highly maneuverable and enhances safety, especially in busy airspaces. The BlackBird recently completed development and is now undergoing flight tests. It measures about 16 feet long, weighs up to 750 lbs, and can reach speeds of 75 mph. The design aims to ensure a smooth ride, even in challenging conditions. Safety is a top priority for CycloTech. The six cyclorotors provide backup power in case one fails, enabling the aircraft to stay in control. The advanced thrust vector control also improves the vehicle's ability to navigate and land safely. The company plans to conduct the first flight of the BlackBird in early 2025. This flight will build on lessons learned from previous test flights of an earlier model. CycloTech believes that with this innovative technology, flying cars may soon be a practical reality, bringing new possibilities for urban transport and reducing pollution.
