Authorities found dead and starving dogs in Michigan home

Authorities in Michigan arrested three people after discovering terrible living conditions in their home. The investigation began when AT&T employees reported the theft of $30,000 worth of wireless cables from a nearby site. When police arrived, they found a dead dog caged outside and two malnourished dogs in the yard. Inside the house, they discovered a dead puppy inside a pizza box. The home was dirty and full of starving and abused animals. It also housed a nine-year-old boy. Genesee County Sheriff Christopher Swanson condemned the situation, stating that the two dogs had not eaten in weeks and had no access to water. He highlighted the dreadful living conditions, saying no one should live like that, especially a child. The sheriff warned that those who cannot care for their children or pets should seek help rather than neglect them. The three arrested individuals are Kelly Walker, 29, Charles Ashbaker, 38, and Douglas Nelson, 47. They face multiple charges, including child abuse and animal cruelty. The child has now been placed under the care of Child Protective Services, and the surviving dogs were sent to a rescue facility.
