Auto driver arrested for molesting minor in Kolkata

An auto-rickshaw driver has been arrested for reportedly sexually harassing a 15-year-old girl in Kolkata. The incident occurred on March 18 in the Thakurpukur area while the girl was riding in the vehicle. The girl's mother filed a complaint at the local police station. She explained that the harassment happened between 8:45 PM and 9:00 PM during the ride. The driver allegedly touched the girl inappropriately and made several unwanted advances toward her. Police launched an investigation that included reviewing CCTV footage and creating a suspect profile. Local intelligence helped identify the driver, leading to his arrest after a day-long search. The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Indian Penal Code. The accused has been taken to court and is currently in judicial custody.
