Ayelet Zurer returns as Vanessa Fisk in "Daredevil."

Ayelet Zurer, known for her role as Vanessa Fisk in Marvel’s Daredevil, has shared her thoughts on the recent recasting for the new series, Daredevil: Born Again. Her character, the First Lady of New York, returns to the show alongside Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays Mayor Wilson Fisk. Zurer expressed her excitement about working with D'Onofrio again. She said he was one of the first to reach out to her after the recasting was announced, showing that they both felt it was the right decision. Initially, Sandrine Holt had taken on the role of Vanessa in a previous version of the series, which also changed several main characters. When Marvel changed the creative team behind the show at the end of 2023, Zurer was invited back to reprise her role. She mentioned she was unclear why the first team decided to recast many actors except for D'Onofrio and Cox. However, she was thrilled to return and explore more about Vanessa’s character. In the new storyline, Vanessa’s relationship with Fisk is under strain. She finds herself feeling lonely and confused about their marriage. In therapy sessions, Vanessa discusses her feelings about Fisk's absence and their complicated relationship. Zurer has said the new script allows her to delve deeper into her character. She is exploring themes of trust and honesty in a more profound way. New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are available on Disney+ every Tuesday.
