B S College in Danapur faces faculty and resource shortages
B S College in Danapur, part of Patliputra University, is facing serious issues due to a lack of resources and faculty. This is affecting its ability to provide quality education in undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational courses. Established in 1954, the college has a rich history and serves a diverse group of students, half of whom are women. Principal Prof. Madhu Prabha Singh highlighted that the college is struggling with an increasing number of students and a shortage of classrooms and facilities. Currently, only 29 out of 44 faculty positions are filled, which impacts the quality of education offered. The college also has financial troubles, with Rs 2 crore owed by the state government for students' fees. These funds are essential for maintaining financial stability and are needed to improve infrastructure and support staff and students. There is an urgent need for renovation at the college, especially in the auditorium, which has not been upgraded in years. Despite pleas for help, the state government has not provided financial assistance to help with these updates or to build more classrooms. Additionally, the college is struggling to keep up with technological advancements. It lacks the resources to introduce modern teaching tools, while other institutions are using technology effectively. With a significant number of female students, many from underprivileged backgrounds, the college plays a vital role in empowering young women through education. The principal emphasizes that the future of the college depends on the state government's response to its urgent requests for support. Without help, the college may face challenges in meeting the needs of its growing student body and maintaining its vital role in the community.
