Babar Azam seeks batting advice from Umar Akmal
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, is facing challenges with his batting. He has not scored significantly in recent matches, leading to criticism from fans and analysts. His struggles were evident in the National T20 Cup, where he only managed 22 runs off 17 balls for Lahore Blues against Karachi Whites. Umar Akmal, Babar’s cousin and a former teammate, spoke about the difficulties facing Babar. In a recent TV interview, he mentioned that Babar came to him saying, “Umar bhai, I’m having a bit of trouble.” Akmal provided advice on adjusting Babar's batting grip to improve his performance, especially against spin bowlers. Babar has not scored an international century since August 2023 and has struggled in significant tournaments. He only amassed 87 runs in the recent ICC Champions Trophy. This poor form has led to his exclusion from the T20I squad currently playing in New Zealand, where Pakistan is down 2-0 in the series. Despite these setbacks, Babar plans to travel to New Zealand later this month for the ODI series. He hopes to regain his form and make a comeback.
