Bajal ward residents face severe water scarcity issues
Residents in the Bajal ward of Mangaluru are experiencing a serious water shortage. Those living in Bajal Thota and Kattapuni have struggled to get enough drinking water for the past few months. The difficulties have prompted locals to reach out to the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) for help. Santhosh Bajal, the secretary of the Bajal Ward Development Committee, reported that the Kattapuni Anganwadi Centre is facing a critical water issue. Workers at the centre must travel far to fetch water from a well. This summer, the water level in that well has dropped significantly, making it hard to collect even small amounts of water. Moreover, the Anganwadi's location is elevated, and the path to the centre has become increasingly difficult to navigate. Residents also pointed out that garbage collection has been irregular in their area. Many households in Kattapuni's western region have not had their trash picked up in recent months. When asked about this issue, the waste collection workers showed little concern. Despite informing local officials about these problems, residents say that no action has been taken. Residents are urging the MCC to address the water crisis and other issues affecting families in the area, including the Anganwadi centre. They hope for a swift response from authorities to improve their living conditions.
