Bakersfield Tennis Open finals scheduled for this weekend
The Bakersfield Tennis Open is in its final stages. The tournament is celebrating its 10th year and is being held at the Bakersfield Racquet Club. By the end of the weekend, new champions will be crowned. On Saturday, the semifinals for the singles bracket are taking place. Three seeded players are competing for a spot in the finals. The top seed, Johannus Monday from Great Britain, is up against No. 4 seed Bor Artnak from Slovenia. In the other semifinal, unseeded Isaiah Strode is playing No. 6 Alex Rybakov. The winners will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. for the championship match. In the quarterfinals, Monday defeated seventh seed Trevor Svajda, while Artnak won against Andres Martin. Both victories came down to close sets on Friday. The doubles championship will also be decided on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. The final will feature top seeds Keshav Chopra and Andres Martin against the unseeded pair of Ryan Dickerson and Ty Gentry. Chopra and Martin advanced by beating Jagger Leach and Ian Mayew. After the doubles match, there will be a celebration for the 10th anniversary of the tournament. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
