Balochistan's security situation worsens, raises concerns
In the Pakistani Parliament, MP Fulan Baloch made a shocking claim about the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). He said that the group has so many potential suicide bombers that it has stopped recruiting new members. This statement raised alarms about the security situation in Balochistan. Baloch expressed concern that elected officials can no longer travel safely to their constituencies. He urged for a "real election" to strengthen local representatives and address ongoing issues in the region. He emphasized that restoring law and order is a collective responsibility, not just that of Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. His comments came after a recent deadly bomb blast in the Noshki district, where the BLA claimed responsibility. The attack resulted in the deaths of seven Frontier Corps soldiers and injuries to at least twelve others. The BLA stated that the actual number of casualties is higher. According to preliminary investigations, the blast was a suicide attack, which adds to fears of increasing violence. Baloch also noted a troubling trend. He said that the BLA is now led by educated youth rather than tribal leaders. He highlighted the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and specifically mentioned a case of a young man missing for 11 years, linking it to the rise in suicide bombers within the movement.
