Baltimore police arrest two teens in auto theft incident

Baltimore police have arrested two 13-year-olds after a chase involving a stolen vehicle. This incident occurred in North Baltimore as car thefts in the area have increased significantly, by 85% in the past week compared to last year. Officers tracked a white pickup truck before arresting a girl and a boy. Another teenager managed to escape. During their arrest, the girl even asked the police to put her hoodie on while the boy laughed. Both were released to their guardians just hours later. The rise in auto thefts is concerning the community. Recently, four teens were caught on camera carjacking a 76-year-old woman. One of the teens involved, a 15-year-old, had been charged with carjacking in the past but was released. Community members are frustrated and calling for tougher measures against juvenile crime. Some believe that young offenders should face adult charges for serious crimes. They argue that lenient penalties, like house arrest, allow young criminals to continue their activities without real consequences.
