Battery maker CATL criticizes Elon Musk's 4680 cell technology

Robin Zeng, founder of Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), criticized Elon Musk's 4680 battery cells, claiming they will fail. Zeng stated that during Musk's visit to China, he demonstrated his doubts about Musk's battery expertise. Tesla's 4680 cells are designed to offer more energy capacity and are used in models like the Cybertruck. However, Musk has set a deadline for improvements amid ongoing cost issues. CATL supplies batteries for various electric vehicles, including Tesla and Ford models. Zeng noted that while Musk excels in areas like software and hardware, he tends to overpromise on timelines, particularly regarding technology advancements.
