Bay Area man arrested for flying drone over Vandenberg Space Force Base

Yinpiao Zhou, a 39-year-old man from Brentwood, was arrested for allegedly flying a drone over Vandenberg Space Force Base and taking photographs. He was apprehended at San Francisco International Airport before a flight to China. Zhou faces charges for failing to register the drone and violating national defense airspace. Court documents reveal that a drone was detected over the base on November 30, leading security to find Zhou hiding the drone in a park. The FBI is investigating the incident. If convicted, Zhou could face up to four years in federal prison. He is a Chinese citizen and a lawful resident of the U.S.
