Bay County tennis teams tie in season opener

Bay County's high school tennis season began on March 19, 2025, with a match between Essexville Garber and Bay City Western. The two teams faced off in sunny weather that quickly turned cold. Coaches planned the match for a warm day, but winter weather returned. Despite the chill, both teams showcased strong performances. Garber won three singles matches, with players Ella McCauley, Emmalyn Bergevin, and Josie Reyes taking victories. In doubles, Justice Dawkins and Sienna Sanchez secured a win for Garber. On the other side, Bay City Western won at the No. 1 singles with Payton Martin and had success in doubles matches. Teams led by Ally Clifford and Bri Hennard, Kate Friedle and Lauren Gehoski, and Ava Schmidt and Miky Reder all earned wins for Western.
