Bay Village police mistook umbrella for rifle

On February 27, Bay Village police sought help from Westlake to find a man reported walking with a rifle. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man was actually carrying an umbrella. On February 25, the owner of Bay Food Mart reported a fraud incident involving two residents who were scammed into depositing money into Bitcoin. The owner recognized the scam and contacted the police. Additionally, on February 27, a driver reported reckless driving near Columbia Road. Officers located the vehicle parked at the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center and spoke with the driver about the complaint.
