Bayawan City leaves CVIRAA, joins Negros Island Region

Bayawan City hosted the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) for the last time before joining the new Negros Island Region (NIR) next year. The event served as a qualifier for the Palarong Pambansa in May. DepEd Region 7 Director Salustiano Jimenez praised Bayawan City for its organization and waste management during the event. He noted that only 12 of the original 20 school divisions will remain in Region 7 after the transition. Cebu City Niños won the overall championship, while Bayawan City finished ninth in the medal standings. Jimenez expressed gratitude to Mayor John “Jack” Raymond for the city's hospitality throughout the week-long meet.
