Baylor's Jeremy Roach prepares for potential Duke rematch
Jeremy Roach, a guard for Baylor, is looking forward to a potential rematch with his former team, Duke, in the NCAA Tournament. The tournament bracket was announced recently, and Roach found it amusing. Baylor, the ninth seed, will face Mississippi State on Friday. If they win, they could play against top-ranked Duke, who is expected to beat the 16th seed, Mount St. Mary's. Roach played for Duke for four years before transferring to Baylor last April. He was an important player for Duke, helping the team reach the Final Four three years ago and the Elite 8 last year. However, he still feels the sting of a surprising loss to North Carolina State last season. This loss prompted Duke's coach, Jon Scheyer, to make significant changes to the team. After considering a move to the NBA, Roach chose to transfer to Baylor for his final college season. Though he had a strong season last year, injuries have impacted his performance at Baylor. He has suffered two concussions and missed seven games. His average points per game have dropped from 14 to 10.3, and his shooting from three-point range has also decreased. Despite the challenges, Roach remains positive about the season. He noted that the team is staying connected and believes they are improving. Coach Scott Drew values Roach's NCAA Tournament experience and trusts his leadership in the upcoming games. While Roach is focused on the game against Mississippi State, he is also excited about the possibility of facing Duke again.
