BBC tops nominations at Banff Rockie Awards 2025

The BBC has received the most nominations for the Banff Rockie Awards, with a total of 28. Other notable competitors include National Geographic and Hulu, each with seven nominations, and Disney Television Studios and Audible, with five nominations each. This year's Banff World Media Festival will combine the Banff Gala Awards and the Rockie Awards into a single event. The awards show is scheduled for June 9 at 5:30 p.m. MT. Jenn Kuzmyk, the festival's executive director, highlighted the significance of merging these prestigious awards to celebrate both industry leaders and creative talent. The Rockie Awards focus on excellence in TV and digital media, featuring 152 nominees from 22 countries across 30 categories. In total, there are 30 awards available, including new categories for best performances in drama and comedy. The United States leads in nominations with 54, followed closely by the UK with 52 and Canada with 35. Other countries with nominations include Australia, France, and South Korea, among others. An esteemed Grand Jury will select the Grand Jury Prize for the best program overall. This year's jury includes top executives from networks and production companies across the globe. Besides the Grand Jury Prize, other awards include the $25,000 Rogers Prize for Excellence in Canadian Content and the Prix Francophone for the best French-language production. The festival aims to showcase a wide range of categories, from documentaries to children’s programming, and highlight top talent in the industry.
