B.C. couple stranded for a week, rescued successfully
A couple from Vancouver Island, Ken and Linda Biggs, recently experienced a week-long struggle for survival after a short drive took a dangerous turn. They intended to drive for three hours from Port McNeill to look for elk, but their truck broke down at Bonanza Lake. The couple had only a few apples, oranges, and dog treats for food. They had also forgotten to bring necessary medications, believing the trip would be brief. Nearby, they found a cabin with some wood, a fireplace, and bunk beds, along with some preserves in the cupboard. With no cell service and dead batteries, Ken and Linda had to stay in the cabin and ration their food. During the day, they kept busy by drawing, but the nights were excruciatingly cold. They often had to sleep in their truck, where Linda would wake up feeling extremely cold. As days passed, they began to lose hope of being found. Linda recalled feeling like they might never get rescued. Meanwhile, their daughter discovered the couple's situation and contacted the community for help. Concerned neighbors organized a search effort. Eventually, the couple was found. Linda described the relief she felt upon seeing her son outside the cabin. They were physically unharmed, and the couple expressed gratitude for the support they received. They also plan to replace the food they consumed while stranded.
