BCCI adds seven new umpires for IPL 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced seven new Indian umpires for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The aim is to give these umpires experience in high-pressure matches. The new umpires are Swaroopanand Kannur, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Parashar Joshi, Anish Sahastrabuddhe, Keyur Kelkar, Koushik Gandhi, and Abhijeet Bengeri. Veteran umpires S Ravi and CK Nandan will mentor them during the tournament. Koushik Gandhi, one of the new umpires, is a former player from Tamil Nadu. He has played 34 first-class matches and has quickly advanced in his career, officiating in women's internationals and the Women's Premier League. The IPL 2025 will also feature three international umpires: Michael Gough, Chris Gaffaney, and Adrian Holdstock. Some well-known umpires from the previous season, like Kumar Dharmasena and Anil Chaudhary, will not be part of this year's tournament. Dharmasena has transitioned to a TV commentary role.
