Bears prioritize offensive line improvement for Caleb Williams
The Chicago Bears are aiming to improve their offensive line and support rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Last season, Williams faced significant pressure, getting sacked 68 times, which was the highest in the NFL. This poor performance raises questions about the offensive line’s effectiveness. Under the new head coach, Ben Johnson, the team is making changes. They have signed center Drew Dalman from the Atlanta Falcons for three years at $42 million. Additionally, they traded for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson earlier this month. Now, the Bears are looking for a top left tackle to complete their new setup. Sportswriter Brad Biggs from the Chicago Tribune suggests LSU player Will Campbell could be their choice with the number-10 pick in April's NFL Draft. Biggs noted that Campbell's arm length, measuring 32 5/8 inches, has raised some concerns. However, he believes many successful tackles have thrived despite this issue. Campbell is a strong player, standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 323 pounds. He earned All-American honors at LSU in 2024, the first player from the Tigers to do so in 20 years. He also started almost every game during his college career, missing just one for health reasons. Selecting a left tackle at pick number 10 seems like a smart strategy for the Bears as they work to enhance their team.
