Begumpul underground metro station in Meerut nearly finished
Construction on the NCRTC corridor from Meerut South to Modipuram is moving quickly. The Begumpul underground station is almost finished and will be important for local transportation. It will serve both the Namo Bharat train and the Meerut Metro. Currently, the Namo Bharat train operates daily between Meerut South and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. Local reports show that track laying at the Begumpul station is complete. Workers are now focused on finishing touches and installing necessary facilities. Begumpul station will be the only underground station in Meerut. It will have two tracks with a modern signaling system, allowing both the semi-high-speed Namo Bharat train and the metro to operate smoothly. This setup is a first in India. The station will feature many amenities for passengers. It will include air conditioning, platform screen doors, CCTV cameras, and twenty escalators over its four levels. The station measures 246 meters long and 24.5 meters wide, with four access gates placed for easy entry and exit. Seven lifts, three of which are already in place, will help passengers navigate the station. Once completed, Begumpul station is expected to greatly improve travel in the area. It will provide a modern, efficient transport system and help reduce traffic congestion in Meerut.
