Belagavi police crackdown on hate speech during Ramazan
Belagavi police are taking strong action against individuals who post offensive content on social media. This move comes as communal tensions rise in the city, especially during the month of Ramazan. Recently, police showcased over 220 people involved in communal disturbances and drug-related activities from various police stations. They are particularly focused on habitual offenders who aim to disrupt community harmony. In a specific case, police arrested a 19-year-old from Bhadakal Galli for sharing controversial content on Instagram. An FIR has been filed against him for his actions. City police commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang has warned the public to be careful with social media. He stated that posts promoting hate or division based on language, religion, or caste will lead to serious legal consequences. He urged everyone to consider the potential impact of their words on the community.
