Ben Duckett declined Delhi Capitals' IPL 2025 offer

Michael Vaughan has shared that the Delhi Capitals (DC) wanted to sign English cricketer Ben Duckett as a replacement for Harry Brook in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Brook decided to withdraw from the tournament to focus on his international career. Brook, who was bought by the Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore, announced his decision on social media. He stated that he needed time to recharge after a busy period in his career. Delhi Capitals won their recent match against Lucknow Super Giants but have not yet named a replacement for him. Vaughan mentioned on Cricbuzz that Duckett isn’t interested in joining the IPL. He highlighted that Duckett has had a successful T20 career, scoring over 5,100 runs. However, being an opener, he would face strong competition for top spots from players like Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk. Vaughan also expressed his views on Brook’s decision. He believes playing in the IPL would have benefited Brook ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Vaughan pointed out that to develop his game, Brook needs to improve his performance against spin bowling, especially for leagues held in conditions like those in India.
