Bengaluru activists disrupt Coffee Santhe for language demand
On Saturday, Kannada activists briefly disrupted the Coffee Santhe, a fair in Bengaluru organized by The Women’s Coffee Alliance-India. The event aimed to support women and children linked to coffee plantations. Some activists shouted slogans and damaged banners written in English. They demanded that stall-keepers use Kannada instead. Organizers tried to explain that the fair included participants from across India, with many supporting coffee farmers. The police quickly intervened and restored order in about 20 minutes. Some stall managers responded by quickly switching their signs to Kannada to prevent further disruption. Several coffee entrepreneurs from different regions attended the event, showcasing their products. The organizers emphasized the importance of the fair for the coffee industry and the local community. The activists left peacefully after a brief confrontation but returned later. The police ensured they did not cause further disturbances.
