Bengaluru-Coimbatore Uday Express extension still pending approval
The Railway Board has not yet approved the extension of the Bengaluru-Coimbatore Uday Express to Palakkad. This train service was tested nearly a year ago, but it has not started. Many passengers are unhappy because there is no direct train from Pollachi to Bengaluru. The trial run took place on April 17, 2024. Extending the train service would help many people in Pollachi, Anamalai, and Valparai since they currently must go to Coimbatore to catch a train. MKG Anandakumar, a member of the Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee, spoke about this at a recent meeting. He said that Pollachi is home to several IT companies and that the train would be popular. However, officials from the Palakkad division have confirmed that they are still waiting for approval from the Railway Board. Anandakumar pointed out that Pollachi Junction serves four areas and is important for tourism and spirituality. The region has several attractions, including temples, hills, and wildlife reserves. He believes that improving train services would greatly benefit tourists and locals alike.
