Bengaluru hosts growing community for nature educators
In Bengaluru, a monthly event called Nature Classrooms is helping nature educators connect and share ideas. The initiative is run by the Nature Conservation Foundation. On a sunny Sunday, participants gather at Cubbon Park to play spring bingo and talk about their experiences in nature education. This event, now in its 10th month, started from a simple team discussion. Many people expressed a desire to meet others interested in nature education. Their first meetup in April 2024 saw a large turnout of curious participants. Many wanted to network and learn about different perspectives in the field. At each meetup, people share their journeys and discuss important topics related to nature education. They talk about effective teaching methods and community engagement. Recent discussions included the impact of local projects on wildlife and how different socioeconomic backgrounds affect nature education. The atmosphere is friendly and collaborative, with participants sharing snacks and stories. Many attendees feel relieved to find others interested in the same work. They believe that working together can help build stronger educational programs in nature. Organizers hope to expand this initiative, encouraging more partnerships and collaborations. They believe that more voices can create a significant impact. The goal is to share effective resources and possibly start similar meetups in other cities. The community continues to grow, uniting diverse individuals passionate about nature education.
