A man from Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and trying to make it look like a suicide. The incident occurred in Tavarekere, BTM Layout I Stage, on Thursday. The victim, Shilpa, was a staff nurse, and her husband, Chikka Mutturaju, worked at a hospital. They had been married for 12 years and had an 11-year-old daughter who lives with her grandmother. Reports say that Mutturaju often argued with Shilpa due to his suspicions about her fidelity. On the day of the incident, their argument turned violent. Mutturaju slapped Shilpa, causing her to collapse and bleed from her nose. He then allegedly strangled her before hanging her body from the roof using her sari to stage a suicide. Mutturaju initially called Shilpa’s mother to claim she had taken her own life. When Shilpa's mother arrived, Mutturaju was not at home. The owner of the house suspected something was wrong and called the police. Officers found evidence that suggested a murder had taken place, and an autopsy later confirmed this. The police tracked down Mutturaju at his workplace. He was reportedly intoxicated and confessed to the crime during questioning. He has now been charged with murder, and the investigation continues.
