BEST staff caught dining with alcohol on bus

On Friday night, an inspection by a BEST official uncovered alcohol consumption inside an air-conditioned electric bus in Mumbai. The bus was parked at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) when the Assistant Traffic Officer noticed it around 8:05 PM. The inspection revealed a BEST conductor, a temporary driver, and a driver from Switch Mobility eating inside the bus. Three outsiders were also present, one of whom had a liquor bottle. When questioned, the outsiders fled the scene. The smell of alcohol in the bus raised concerns that it had been consumed there. The Switch driver was suspected of being under the influence and was taken to a nearby police station for testing. However, police decided not to file a case or take further action. A report on the incident is being prepared by the assistant traffic officer. The BEST management stated that they will take strict action if any staff members are found guilty.
