Beth Hilongo shines for UST in losing effort
In a tense match filled with rivalry, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses faced off against the Far Eastern University (FEU) in their second straight loss. Despite the defeat, Beth Hilongo stood out with a career-high 17 points. She also contributed with 11 digs and nine excellent receptions. The game, part of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament, ended with scores of 22-25, 24-26, 25-17, and 26-24. UST's coach, KungFu Reyes, acknowledged the team’s need for growth but noted that some players, like Hilongo, are improving and stepping up. He expressed optimism about the team’s rotation as they move forward in the season. Hilongo has taken on additional responsibilities in the absence of injured players Jonna Perdido and Xyza Gula. She feels the pressure but enjoys the challenge and is thankful for the trust her teammates and coaches place in her. Hilongo believes that their hard work in training is starting to pay off in games. She feels supported by her teammates and is eager to continue performing well.
