Bethel Park baseball team aims for WPIAL success
The Bethel Park baseball team is ready for a strong season in the WPIAL. They recently traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for spring training, where they played several other high school teams. The team has 10 returning starters, which gives them confidence heading into the season. Coach Pat Zehnder is excited about the experience his players bring. Many have played in important games and performed well. He hopes the team stays healthy and eager to succeed. Among the standout players, senior Ryan Petras had an impressive .452 batting average last season. He also stole 20 bases and has earned all-section and all-state honors. Other key players include Ethan Stanhoff and Dylan Paul, who also had solid hitting stats last year. On the pitching side, Ryan Walsh and Dylan Schumacher both posted a 2.26 ERA last season. The team has a strong roster that includes several potential Division I prospects. Bethel Park finished as the WPIAL Class 5A runner-up last year and hopes to build on that success. The team won the Section 2 title with a 7-3 record and ended the season with a 16-8-1 overall record. They won nine out of their last eleven games, creating momentum heading into the playoffs. The players and coaches are looking forward to the challenges of the new season.
