Bhagalpur district has taken steps to improve safety and rehabilitation in its jails. District Magistrate Nawal Kishor Choudhary and Senior Superintendent of Police Hriday Kant conducted a security audit at the Shahid Jubba Sahni Central Jail, Special Central Jail, and women's jail on Thursday. They aimed to ensure safety measures are effective in these facilities. During their visit, they also launched a computer laboratory at the Shahid Jubba Sahni Central Jail. This lab will provide free training for inmates to help them gain skills for future employment. Choudhary emphasized that understanding inmates' conditions is essential. He noted that these efforts are designed to reduce the chances of inmates returning to crime after release. Superintendent Yusuf Rizwan shared that the computer lab was set up following guidance from the Inspectorate of Prisons and Correctional Services. Recently, they collected information about inmates who wish to learn computer skills. To qualify for the training, inmates will need to demonstrate their ability to learn. Additionally, engineers from the building construction and electricity supply departments were present to help improve the jail facilities. The ongoing efforts focus on providing better conditions and opportunities for inmates to prepare for life outside prison.
