Bhatti accuses Harish Rao of misleading Telangana Assembly on state liabilities
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka accused former Finance Minister T. Harish Rao and BRS MLAs of providing misleading financial figures about Telangana's liabilities. Bhatti stated that the actual liabilities are ₹7,11,911 crore, much higher than the ₹6,71,157 crore reported in a government document. Bhatti claimed that Rao's reports minimized the state's loan risks and misrepresented the financial situation. He emphasized that the Congress government is focused on repaying loans rather than funding non-functional projects, countering Rao's claims about Congress's borrowing. The assembly session became heated, with members exchanging insults. AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi criticized the Congress government for its negative portrayal of the state's finances, suggesting it could affect investor confidence.
