Bicol region faces over P2 billion in agricultural losses from Tropical Storm Kristine
Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has caused over P2.1 billion in agricultural and fisheries damage in the Bicol Region, with Camarines Sur suffering the most at P1.1 billion. Rice fields, covering 33,377 hectares, are heavily affected. The Department of Agriculture reported that 37,795 farmers and fishers are impacted. Rice losses alone exceed P1.8 billion. Local governments are expected to report further damages. In response, the National Food Authority has begun distributing rice to affected areas. Additional supplies were delivered after a visit from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to support relief efforts.
