Bidar official faces court warrant for report failure
A court in Bengaluru has issued a warrant against the Deputy Commissioner of Bidar. This action comes because the official failed to provide a report in a land-grab case involving BJP MLA Prabhu Chavan. The case was filed by Deepak Patil, the former president of Chandori Gram Panchayat. He accused Chavan of taking over 3.19 acres of government land in Kolara (B) village. Patil claims that Chavan used fake documents to carry out the encroachment. The complaint also named other officials, including the Deputy Commissioner, the Assistant Commissioner, and the Tahsildar. Patil alleges they helped Chavan in this illegal activity and requested legal action against all involved. The Special Court had previously ordered the Deputy Commissioner to submit the report by December 12, 2024. The deadline was extended twice, first to February 21, 2025, and then to March 13, 2025. As the Deputy Commissioner did not comply, the court decided to issue the warrant. The warrant requires a surety bond of ₹1 lakh.
