Biden administration boosts Ukraine military aid with $275 million package before Trump takes office
The Biden administration is sending Ukraine at least $275 million in new military aid, including antipersonnel land mines, as it seeks to strengthen Ukraine's defenses against Russia before Donald Trump takes office. This marks a significant increase in support amid rising tensions. In addition to land mines, the aid package includes air defense systems, artillery rounds, and drones. The U.S. is also expediting the delivery of $7.1 billion in previously approved funding to ensure Ukraine is well-equipped for the winter. The Pentagon is working to fulfill these commitments before Trump’s inauguration on January 20. The administration is also finalizing a $50 billion loan to Ukraine, with $20 billion backed by the U.S. and the rest from international partners.
