Biden allows Ukraine to use U.S. missiles against deep Russian targets
President Joe Biden has changed U.S. policy to allow Ukraine to use American missiles against targets deep inside Russia. This decision follows North Korea's deployment of troops to Russia and Donald Trump's recent election victory, which increased pressure on Biden's administration. Previously, Biden resisted Ukrainian requests to use ATACMs missiles, fearing escalation with Russia. However, the presence of North Korean soldiers in Russia's Kursk region prompted a reassessment of this stance. Ukraine has already conducted its first long-range strike under the new policy. The U.S. has also approved other measures to support Ukraine, including the use of anti-personnel mines and allowing defense contractors to operate in Ukraine. The new missile policy is seen as a way to counter the Russian-North Korean military efforts in the region.
