Biden's student loan forgiveness program moves forward after judge lifts restraining order
President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness program can now move forward after a judge allowed a temporary restraining order to expire. This decision comes as a minor win for the Biden administration ahead of the presidential election. The lawsuit, filed by seven Republican-led states, was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Randall Hall, who stated that Georgia lacked standing to challenge the plan. The case will be transferred to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. Biden's revised plan aims to cancel student debt for over 25 million borrowers. This follows the Supreme Court's rejection of an earlier program that would have canceled up to $20,000 for 43 million borrowers.
