Bijaynagar residents demand CBI probe into sexual abuse
A bandh took place in Bijaynagar town, located in Beawar district, on Saturday. The local community demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into a serious case of alleged sexual abuse involving school-going girls. The Sarva Hindu Samaj Sangarsh Samiti organized the bandh. They also held a rally to express their frustration over the slow progress of the current investigation. During the bandh, shops and markets in Bijaynagar were closed, and local transportation was halted. Police were present throughout the town to maintain order. Members of the sarva samiti protested at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office. One member, Lalit Sharma, emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. Another member, Surya Prakesh, claimed the abuse was part of a broader conspiracy that the special investigation team (SIT) is not addressing. Protesters began their demonstration at Char Batti Chauraha, chanting slogans about the delayed police inquiry. They warned that their protests would escalate if the case was not transferred to the CBI. On February 15, three parents filed FIRs accusing individuals from a specific community of sexually abusing their daughters. This prompted right-wing groups to join the protests, leading to police action. So far, 13 people have been arrested, with 10 in jail and three minors placed in a correction center.
