Bill Bergey, a former NFL linebacker and Eagles Hall of Famer, has died at 79, as announced by his son on Christmas Day. Bergey had been battling cancer for several years. Bergey played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1974 to 1980 and recorded nearly 1,200 tackles. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and was inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame in 1988. Before joining the Eagles, Bergey played for the Cincinnati Bengals. After retiring, he contributed to the Eagles' pregame and postgame coverage.
