Bill Gates visits India for collaboration discussions
Bill Gates, the former CEO of Microsoft, visited India for the third time this week. During his stay, he met with Union Minister JP Nadda in Parliament. The details of their meeting were not made public. Later, Gates was scheduled to meet the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu. They will discuss partnerships in education, healthcare, and agriculture. Agreements to improve these sectors are expected to be signed during the meeting. On March 17, Gates also met Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi. They talked about important topics like food security, women's empowerment, and new agricultural technologies. Chouhan expressed appreciation for the Gates Foundation’s support and mentioned the potential for further collaboration in areas such as digital agriculture and climate-friendly practices. In other news, Breakthrough Energy, the climate group founded by Gates, has laid off several employees in the US and Europe. This move marks a shift from its previous focus on public policy advocacy. The layoffs include all staff in Europe and the US public policy team. The changes come as the US government shifts its focus toward boosting fossil fuels, raising questions about future climate policies. Gates is currently one of the wealthiest individuals globally, with a net worth of $163.4 billion.
