Bills focus on edge rusher and receiver in draft
As the NFL's free agency period comes to a close, attention is shifting towards the 2025 NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills have made significant moves, addressing many of their needs through signings and contract extensions. With a total of ten draft picks, their strategy is evolving. The Bills primarily focus on filling key positions in the draft. General Manager Brandon Beane's approach is known for balancing need with player value. Potential targets include wide receiver, edge rusher, defensive tackle, and cornerback. They aim to draft players who meet their needs without overreaching. In a recent mock draft by The Athletic, the Bills plotted their strategy. The mock draft started by observing how the first 15 picks unfold. One standout missing player was Jalon Walker, a highly regarded edge rusher. When the opportunity arose to trade for the 16th pick to select him, the Bills faced rejection and Walker was picked by the Cardinals. As the draft continued, the Bills considered trading up to secure key prospects. A notable target was Donovan Ezeiruaku, an edge rusher. After several discussions, the Bills successfully traded up to the 26th pick and selected Ezeiruaku. He is seen as a valuable addition, bringing skills and potential for future seasons. Following this, the Bills continued to address their needs with the remaining picks. They selected Alfred Collins, a defensive tackle, at No. 56, and cornerback Darien Porter at No. 62. Collins will solidify the Bills' defense, while Porter offers immediate starting potential. Additionally, the Bills made a trade to move up for wide receiver Tory Horton, a player who adds depth to their receiver lineup. Other picks included offensive lineman Caleb Rogers, tight end Jake Brinningstool, safety Dante Trader Jr., and punter James Burnip. With their strategic selections, the Bills aim to build a competitive roster for the 2025 season and beyond.
