Bills GM hints at uncertainty for Cook's contract extension
The Buffalo Bills have had a strong offseason. They recently made headlines by signing defensive star Joey Bosa, aiming to boost their defense. The team also rewarded several players with contract extensions. Khalil Shakir, Terrel Bernard, and Greg Rousseau all received four-year deals after becoming key contributors to the team. The biggest news was a six-year, $330 million extension for quarterback Josh Allen. This deal includes a record $250 million guaranteed. However, running back James Cook and cornerback Christian Benford are still waiting for their long-term contracts. General manager Brandon Beane spoke about the situation on a podcast. He confirmed that talks are happening but did not offer much hope. "That's probably as far as I would take it," he said. Cook has expressed his desire for an extension through social media posts. He led the NFL in rushing touchdowns last season, proving he deserves a new contract. Benford also had an impressive year as a cornerback. Both players have shown they are worthy of extensions, but it remains uncertain if the Bills will finalize any deals.
