"Bird restaurants" launched in Prayagraj and Pratapgarh

Animal activists are installing "bird restaurants" in villages to protect birds from the summer heat. This initiative started on Thursday, marking World Sparrow Day, in areas around Prayagraj and Pratapgarh. The bird restaurants are made of iron rods and placed in the shade of trees. They provide water and food for the birds, which are especially vulnerable to dehydration in high temperatures. This effort aims to ensure the survival of birds during the hot months. Activist Ajay noted that rising temperatures harm not just humans but all living things. Help in building these bird restaurants is coming from various community members, including policemen and local citizens. Initially, the bird restaurants have been set up in over a dozen villages. In the coming two months, thousands more will be added in shaded areas. Apart from focusing on birds, there is also a need to care for pets during summer. Animal lover Rajul Bhargava suggests keeping pets indoors during peak heat and adjusting their diets to include more cooling foods. Residents are being urged to place water bowls for strays and create simple shelters. Anjali, another pet owner, highlights the importance of taking dogs for walks in the evening to avoid the heat. Many animal lovers are also providing hydrating treats for their pets.
