A recent bird survey in Coimbatore's wetlands shows a decline in both bird species and population. The Forest Department recorded 182 species and 13,792 individual birds on March 8-9, down from 201 species and 16,069 birds in January 2024. The survey covered 25 wetlands, with Segulam having the highest species count at 86. Achankulam had the largest bird population, with 1,715 observed.
