Bishop's Gaiters win U Sports women's hockey championship

Gabrielle Santerre played a key role in helping the Bishop's Gaiters win their first U Sports women's hockey championship. The Gaiters beat the Waterloo Warriors 3-0 in the gold-medal final held in North Woolwich, Ontario. Santerre scored a goal and provided two assists during the game. She broke the tie with a goal in the second period. Later, she assisted on two other goals, including one by Gabrielle Rousseau in the third period and an empty-net goal by Maude Pepin. In goal, Ericka Gagnon made 27 saves and achieved a shutout for the Gaiters. This was the Gaiters' first appearance in a national final since the team's formation four years ago. The Gaiters outshot the Warriors 29-27, and both teams failed to score on their power plays. In the bronze medal game, the Toronto Varsity Blues defeated the Concordia Stingers 3-1. Sophie Grawbarger, Abby Whitworth, and Scout Watkins Southward scored for Toronto, while Jessymaude Drapeau scored for Concordia. The Varsity Blues outshot the Stingers 27-19.
